Nicolas Raskin transfer approach – a “record-breaking”

Posted on August 21, 2026 by Ibrahim Musa

Rangers fans are once again bracing for a summer of transfer speculation, and this time it centers on their standout midfielder, Nicolas Raskin. Reports emerging this week suggest that Fenerbahce have made early contact with Ibrox to gauge the financial terms of a possible deal, marking the clearest sign yet that the Belgian’s long-rumored departure could finally be nearing its conclusion.

The 25-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers at Ibrox in recent seasons, and his stock only rose further after a strong showing for Belgium at this summer’s World Cup. That tournament exposure appears to have reignited interest from across Europe, with the Istanbul giants said to be just one of several clubs monitoring his situation closely. Sources close to the player reportedly expect enquiries to intensify significantly over the coming days as the transfer window edges toward its close.

For Rangers, losing Raskin would sting on a footballing level, but the financial upside is hard to ignore. Should a deal go through anywhere near the club’s valuation, it would represent a record-breaking sale for Rangers, underlining just how much his value has climbed since he arrived from Standard Liège back in January 2023 for a modest fee. That kind of transformation from squad addition to prized asset is exactly the sort of profile that attracts suitors willing to pay a premium.

What happens next matters just as much for Derek McInnes’s rebuilding plans as it does for Raskin’s career. Any fee generated from a sale is expected to be reinvested directly into the squad, giving the manager fresh resources to address other priority positions before the window shuts. Whether Fenerbahce can turn their early interest into a concrete offer remains to be seen, but the direction of travel looks increasingly clear: Nicolas Raskin’s time at Ibrox may be entering its final chapter.
