Rangers finally gave Derek McInnes something to celebrate as they swept aside St Mirren 5-1 at Ibrox to secure their place in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals. Ryan Naderi opened the scoring before Vanja Dragojevic produced a stunning long-range strike to make it 2-0. St Mirren pulled one back through Chris Mochrie, but Rangers responded strongly after the break. Djeidi Gassama restored the two-goal advantage before debutant James Penrice struck twice in a memorable first appearance. Ross McAusland completed the scoring late on. The victory will ease some of the pressure surrounding McInnes following a difficult start to his Rangers reign. However, defensive weaknesses remain a concern, and bigger tests are coming, including a quarter-final clash with Celtic. For now, though, Rangers can enjoy their first competitive win under McInnes and hope it marks the beginning of a turnaround.

Good on the ball, quick feet, attacking threat. Yeah, I think he could be a good one for us. Maybe he got taken off at halftime because he’s not match fit. That’s what I reckon. He’s still getting up to speed with the rest. You seen that in his first game. What are your thoughts on Yokota?
