Raskin confirned Rangers exit

Posted on August 23, 2026 by Ibrahim Musa

Nicolas Raskin’s Rangers future remains unresolved, with the Belgium international’s name continuing to dominate transfer headlines at Ibrox despite no deal yet being finalised. The 25-year-old midfielder enhanced his stock significantly with a string of impressive performances for Belgium at the 2026 World Cup, and that form has triggered a genuine scramble among clubs across Europe hoping to prise him away from Glasgow before the window shuts.

The list of suitors has been extensive and ever-shifting. Villarreal and AS Roma were long considered the frontrunners, with Belgian outlets suggesting the Serie A side held a slight edge under Gian Piero Gasperini. Real Betis then entered the race following a direct request from manager Manuel Pellegrini, while more recently Fenerbahce have emerged as serious contenders after making early contact to discuss terms. Premier League interest has also been mentioned throughout the saga, with Hull City reportedly having an earlier £14m offer knocked back.

Rangers, for their part, have shown no urgency to sell cheaply. Having signed Raskin for a modest £1.3m from Standard Liege back in 2023, the club are determined to maximise their return and have set an asking price in the region of £20-25m, a figure that would comfortably eclipse the £19.6m received for Calvin Bassey in 2022 to become a club-record sale. With Raskin under contract until 2028, Rangers hold a strong negotiating position and have already reinforced their midfield with signings like Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin and Vanja Dragojevic in anticipation of his departure.

Manager Derek McInnes has been candid about the situation, confirming Raskin was always viewed as a potential “flight risk” given his World Cup exploits, though he has continued to include him in matchday plans while a move is finalised. For now, the transfer remains very much in progress rather than done, with several credible suitors still jockeying for position as the deadline approaches.
