Mikey Moore to Rangers done deal”

For much of the summer, Rangers fans dared to dream that Mikey Moore might be on his way back to Ibrox for a second loan spell, but that particular hope now appears to be dead in the water. The winger, who lit up the Scottish Premiership last season with seven goals and a string of standout performances, looks set to embark on the next stage of his development far away from Govan, with Bundesliga side FC Koln emerging as the clear frontrunners for his signature.
Moore’s stay at Rangers was, by any measure, a triumph. He arrived as a raw 17-year-old still finding his feet in senior football and left twelve months later as the Scottish Premiership’s Young Player of the Season, having formed close bonds with teammates and won over a fanbase that quickly took to his direct, fearless style on the ball. It is little wonder that many at Ibrox hoped Tottenham might sanction a repeat arrangement for the 2026-27 campaign.
Spurs, however, had other ideas. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi made clear he wanted to see Moore tested at a higher level than the Scottish top flight could offer, and that stance opened the door to interest from several of Europe’s bigger leagues. Borussia Dortmund were among the admirers earlier in the window, though their proposal to include an option to buy was rejected by Tottenham, who have been firm that any loan will not carry a permanent obligation attached.
That left Koln to press their case, and they have done so effectively. Reports indicate the German club reached a full agreement with Moore himself, with a verbal agreement between Koln and Tottenham following shortly after, leaving only the final sign-off from De Zerbi as the last formality standing in the way. For Rangers, the door on a reunion looks to have closed, with the club’s transfer focus now shifting toward alternative targets to fill the attacking gap Moore leaves behind.
