Charles Leclerc Set to Quit Ferrari at End of 2026 Season in ….

Posted on April 21, 2026 by Joe Sam

In a bombshell development that has sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 paddock, Charles Leclerc is reportedly set to leave Ferrari at the conclusion of the 2026 season following a bitter dispute over team leadership and future strategy.

Sources close to the Monegasque driver claim the rift centers on Ferrari’s refusal to grant Leclerc clear number-one status and assurances regarding the team’s technical direction heading into the new regulations era. Despite signing a multi-year extension only last season, internal tensions have escalated dramatically in recent months, with Leclerc allegedly demanding greater influence over car development and veto rights on key engineering appointments.

“Charles feels he has given everything to Ferrari since joining the academy as a teenager,” a source revealed. “He has waited patiently for a title shot, but recent decisions have left him questioning the team’s commitment to winning. The 2026 power unit delays and perceived favoritism toward other projects have been the final straw.”

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur is said to be fighting to keep his star driver, offering a lucrative new deal that includes performance bonuses tied to championship success. However, Leclerc’s camp is already in preliminary talks with rival teams, including Mercedes and Aston Martin, both of whom are eyeing a top-line driver for 2027.

Leclerc, 28, has been with Ferrari since 2019 and has secured multiple race wins, but a world championship has so far eluded him. His departure would mark the end of an era for the Scuderia and could trigger a major reshuffle on the grid.

Ferrari declined to comment on the speculation, stating only that “contractual matters remain confidential.” Leclerc’s management also refused requests for comment.

The news comes just days before the Chinese Grand Prix, where Leclerc will undoubtedly face intense questions from the media. Fans on social media are already divided, with many expressing heartbreak over the potential exit of one of F1’s most talented and popular drivers from the iconic Italian team.
