CHAOS ERUPTS AT MOVIE THEATER: Indiana Fever Star Sophie Cunningham Injured in Wild Concession Stand Raid ..

Posted on April 15, 2026 by Joe Sam

In a bizarre and alarming incident that has left fans stunned, Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham was injured during a chaotic raid at an Alamo Drafthouse theater in downtown Indianapolis on Tuesday night.

The 29-year-old WNBA guard, who was attending a private screening of a new action blockbuster with teammates and friends, found herself caught in the middle of pandemonium when a large group of masked individuals suddenly stormed the concession counter mid-showing.

Eyewitnesses described how the group, estimated at 15-20 people, vaulted over the counter around 9:15 PM, grabbing armfuls of popcorn, nachos, candy, and fountain drinks while employees stood frozen in shock. What began as a brazen theft quickly turned violent when a theater staff member attempted to intervene, sparking a scuffle that spilled into the lobby.

Cunningham, who had stepped out to refill her drink, was accidentally knocked to the ground amid the pushing and shoving. She suffered a twisted ankle and bruises after being trampled in the frenzy. Team sources confirmed she was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation but is expected to make a full recovery in time for the upcoming WNBA season.

Video footage circulating on social media captures the shocking moment: panicked screams echo as the raiders stuff snacks into backpacks and hoodies before bolting toward the exits. One employee can be heard yelling, “They’re taking everything!” while customers ducked for cover.

Alamo Drafthouse management released a statement condemning the “cowardly act” and promising full cooperation with police. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is reviewing surveillance footage and has launched an investigation into the organized theft and assault.

Cunningham’s agent issued a brief update: “Sophie is resting and grateful no one was seriously hurt. This was a scary, unnecessary situation.”

The incident has sparked outrage online, with many questioning security at popular entertainment venues. As the WNBA season approaches, fans are hoping the Fever star’s minor injuries won’t sideline her from what promises to be a breakout year.
