Blackburn Rovers have been active on transfer deadline day in their bid to further bolster their ranks.
The Lancashire outfit have been in the market for new signings all window but after a flurry of additions before the start of the season, they’ve had to wait until recently for business to pick up again.
Amario Cozier-Duberry (loan) and Balazs Toth have come through the doors at Ewood Park today and it will be hoped there business is not done yet. However, it seems one man who will not be joining is late target Martial Godo.
After links between Blackburn Rovers and Fulham prospect Godo earlier today, the Lancashire Telegraph now states that talks have broken down.
Discussions were ongoing and moving towards a positive conclusion but it now seems that Godo will not be joining Eustace’s ranks.
As such, Todd Cantwell is poised to be the last signing of the club’s window. He is expected to join from Rangers late on.
An eye-catching player
A deal for Godo would have been one for Blackburn Rovers fans to get excited about.
He’s a lively, promising winger who would get fans off their seats.
However, with Cozier-Duberry signing, it can be argued that Godo wasn’t needed. Eustace has been keen to add pace and energy out wide and he has that in the Brighton loan man.
The need for that is not quite so strong after his signing, so perhaps Godo was being kept in mind as a late alternative in case something cropped up and Cozier-Duberry couldn’t be brought through the door.
Nevertheless, it seems Rovers will now see out the window with Cantwell becoming the last signing, all being well.
A strong window?
The main focus of Blackburn Rovers’ transfer window will be the exit of Sammie Szmodics.
After such a strong season last time around, that was expected. It was more a matter of when and where he went, how much for, and who would replace him at Ewood Park.
It looks as though a new talisman has been found in Yuki Ohashi while Makhtar Gueye looks a handful too. Now that Toth has joined as a much-needed new ‘keeper and Cozier-Duberry offers pace and flair, it looks like a really strong window for Rovers.
Cantwell looks to be inbound as well, following the aforementioned quartet and Jack Barrett, Danny Batth, Owen Beck (loan), Lewis Baker (loan) and Andi Weimann through the doors.
