In a stunning moment that overshadowed the night’s exhibition play, Connecticut Sun superstar Alyssa Thomas was ejected from Sunday “Unrivaled” women’s basketball showcase following a fiery on-court clash with Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese.

After a brief review at the scorer’s table, officials assessed double technical fouls. However, due to what was described as “continued unsportsmanlike conduct” directed at Reese and the officiating crew, Thomas was assessed a second technical, triggering an automatic ejection. The veteran forward left the court to a mix of boos and cheers, slapping the scorer’s table in frustration on her way to the locker room.
Reese remained in the game, finishing with a strong double-double performance. In post-game comments, she downplayed the clash, stating, “It’s just competitive basketball. We both want to win. It’s all love off the court.” Thomas did not speak with media after her ejection.
The ejection sends a stark message about the league’s new emphasis on decorum, even in an offseason exhibition series, and highlights the fearless approach of the WNBA’s new generation, unwilling to be intimidated by the established veterans.
