System of a Down Secretly Recorded a New Album in Armenia – Release Date Leaked!
Yerevan, Armenia – June 6, 2025
In a move that has stunned fans and shaken the metal world, System of a Down has reportedly completed a brand-new studio album — and they did it all in secret in the mountains of Armenia.
According to an anonymous insider close to the band, the members reunited in early 2024 and began writing and recording in a private studio near Lake Sevan, far from the public eye and media. The source claims the album, tentatively titled “Echoes of Ararat”, explores a heavier and more experimental sound while returning to the politically charged roots that made them legends.
What’s even more shocking? A leaked internal memo from their European distributor lists September 20, 2025, as the release date — coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Mezmerize and Hypnotize.
“Serj and Daron buried the hatchet months ago,” the source revealed. “They’ve never sounded more in sync. This is the most passionate material they’ve created since Toxicity.”
Rumors of activity began swirling when fans noticed Serj Tankian and Shavo Odadjian posting cryptic Armenian landscape photos in early 2025. Now, those theories appear to have been true all along.
The band has not yet confirmed the leak, but a cryptic tweet from the official SOAD account featuring a mountain emoji and the word “Soon.” has only fueled speculation.
If confirmed, this will mark the band’s first full-length studio album in over two decades. Social media is already in meltdown, with the hashtag #SOAD2025 trending worldwide.
For fans starved of new material, this might be the long-awaited comeback of the decade.
Stay tuned — we’ll be watching the skies over Ararat.
