Rising UConn Huskies women’s basketball star Sarah Strong recently stirred up laughs after ranking her best “TikTok teammates” — and surprisingly leaving out two of the program’s biggest names. During an appearance on the podcast A Touch More, hosted by Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe, Strong was asked to choose which teammates she would start, bench, or cut in a playful social media draft. Her answer quickly caught fans’ attention.

While the social media banter entertained fans, Strong’s focus remains firmly on basketball. With only two regular-season games left, she is chasing a historic statistical milestone — becoming the first player in NCAA history, men’s or women’s, to achieve a 60-40-90 shooting season. That benchmark requires shooting 60 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range, and 90 percent from the free-throw line. Strong currently sits right at 60 percent overall and just above 40 percent from beyond the arc, though a recent miss dropped her free-throw percentage slightly below the required mark.
As UConn prepares for the postseason, Strong’s remarkable efficiency and steady leadership have positioned the Huskies for another deep tournament run. Whether she reaches the historic shooting threshold or not, her sophomore campaign is already one for the record books. And if her TikTok rankings are any indication, she’s just as comfortable creating viral moments off the court as she is making history on it.
