Runrig Announces 2025 World Tour Dates and New Album Release

Runrig Announces 2025 World Tour and New Album Release

Scottish Celtic rock legends Runrig have thrilled fans worldwide with the announcement of their 2025 world tour, coinciding with the release of their much-anticipated new album. This marks a significant return for the band, who had previously retired from live performances in 2018 following their farewell concert, “The Last Dance,” in Stirling, Scotland.

The 2025 tour, titled “The Runrig Experience,” is set to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary, bringing their iconic blend of Gaelic and English lyrics, evocative storytelling, and powerful melodies to audiences across the globe. The tour will feature a series of performances that pay homage to Runrig’s rich musical heritage, including classic hits like “Loch Lomond,” “Hearts of Olden Glory,” and “Every River.”

The tour kicks off on June 5, 2025, at Victoria Hall in Settle, UK, followed by performances in Glasgow on June 7 and Portree on February 8. The band will then take their show to Birmingham on July 17 and Bury on July 19. International dates include a special performance in Karlsruhe, Germany, on July 13, as part of the “50 Years of RUNRIG Tour – Beat the Drum.”

In addition to the tour, Runrig is set to release a new studio album, their first since 2016’s “The Story.” While details about the album remain under wraps, fans can expect a collection of songs that reflect the band’s enduring commitment to their cultural roots and musical evolution.

Founding member Calum Macdonald expressed his excitement about the upcoming projects, stating, “When we started playing together as Runrig in Skye all those years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined that we’d reach this 50-year milestone. It’s exciting to be involved with the Inverness Castle Experience, and the new exhibition will mean people who enjoy our music will have a way to come together to share their own memories of their connection with the band over the years.”

The band’s legacy will also be honored with a special exhibition at Inverness Castle, set to open in 2025. The exhibition will showcase Runrig’s impact on Scotland’s cultural scene over the past five decades, featuring music, stories, and memorabilia that celebrate their journey from the Isle of Skye to international acclaim.

Tickets for “The Runrig Experience” tour are now available through various platforms, including Eventbrite and ME-Ticket. Fans are encouraged to secure their seats early, as the band’s previous tours have seen sold-out performances across Europe.

As Runrig embarks on this new chapter, both longtime followers and new listeners have the opportunity to experience the band’s timeless music and the vibrant energy that has defined their performances for half a century.
