Motörhead Lives Again: Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell Reunite for 10th Anniversary Tribute to Lemmy at Wacken 2025
In a moment that promises to be etched in rock history, former Motörhead members Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell have announced a special one-night-only reunion performance at Wacken Open Air 2025, in honor of the late, great Lemmy Kilmister.
The event will mark the 10th anniversary of Lemmy’s passing, and the tribute is being hailed as a “celebration of legacy, brotherhood, and pure rock ’n’ roll.” Scheduled for August 1st, 2025, the performance will feature a full set of Motörhead’s most iconic songs, including Ace of Spades, Overkill, Iron Fist, and Born to Raise Hell.
Mikkey Dee, now drummer for Scorpions, said in a statement:
> “We said we’d never bring back Motörhead without Lemmy — and we’re staying true to that. But this tribute is for the fans, for Lemmy, and for everything we built together.”
Phil Campbell added:
> “It’s not a comeback — it’s a one-time, all-out tribute. We’re going to tear the roof off Wacken in Lemmy’s honor.”
The pair will be joined by a rotating lineup of guest vocalists and musicians, all personally chosen by Dee and Campbell. While names have not yet been confirmed, sources close to the event suggest some high-profile rock and metal artists will take part.
Fans around the world are already buzzing, with tickets to Wacken 2025 expected to sell out even faster than usual. This performance won’t resurrect Motörhead — and that’s the point. It will be a raw, emotional, and thunderous farewell to one of the greatest icons in rock history.
As Lemmy once said: “Born to lose, live to win.”
This night will do both.
