  • Motörhead Legends Phil Campbellw and Mikke Dee Announce Retirement from Touring

In a heartfelt announcement that marks the end of an era, former Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee have declared their retirement from touring, closing the chapter on one of rock’s most enduring legacies.

The decision comes amid Motörhead’s 50th-anniversary celebrations in 2025, a year filled with commemorative events and releases honoring the band’s influential history. While both musicians have continued to engage with fans through tribute performances and special appearances, they have firmly stated that the band will not reform or tour under the Motörhead name without the late frontman, Lemmy Kilmister.

“We will never, ever, ever tour with Motörhead as a name ever and bring someone else in,” Mikkey Dee emphasized in a past interview, underscoring their commitment to preserving the band’s authenticity.

Phil Campbell echoed this sentiment, highlighting the unique energy and honesty that defined Motörhead’s music. “It’s incredible to know that our music, and all it stands for, continues to resonate with so many people,” he remarked, expressing gratitude for the enduring support from fans worldwide.

Mikkey Dee’s recent health scare further influenced their decision. In late 2024, he was hospitalized for three weeks due to a severe case of sepsis, a life-threatening condition that required multiple surgeries. Reflecting on the experience, Dee shared, “Another day and I’d be playing drums with Lemmy in heaven.”

As they step back from touring, both Campbell and Dee remain active in the music community, participating in select tribute events and supporting the ongoing celebration of Motörhead’s legacy. Their retirement from the road signifies not an end, but a reverent preservation of the band’s storied history, ensuring that Motörhead’s spirit continues to inspire generations to come.
