Mike Patton to Tour with Tomahawk in 2025, Signaling a Triumphant Return
Mike Patton, the iconic frontman of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, is set to embark on a tour with his experimental rock supergroup, Tomahawk, in 2025. This marks his first major tour since stepping back from live performances in 2021 due to mental health challenges.
Patton’s hiatus began in September 2021 when he canceled all scheduled shows with Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, citing struggles with agoraphobia and depression exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In candid interviews, he revealed that the isolation led to a fear of people and a battle with alcoholism. “Because I was isolated so much, going outside was a hard thing to do,” Patton shared, highlighting the depth of his struggles.
After focusing on his recovery and achieving sobriety, Patton made a gradual return to the stage, performing with Mr. Bungle in South America in December 2022. Now, with renewed vigor, he’s preparing to tour with Tomahawk, promoting their anticipated fifth album. Fans have expressed excitement over the upcoming shows, with discussions about potential dates and venues circulating online.
While Patton’s return to touring is a significant milestone, the future of Faith No More remains uncertain. Keyboardist Roddy Bottum described the band as being in “a really weird spot,” and recent reports suggest that Patton is currently unwilling to commit to new shows with the group, focusing instead on his work with Mr. Bungle and Tomahawk.
As Patton steps back into the spotlight, his journey underscores the importance of mental health awareness and the resilience required to overcome personal challenges. Fans eagerly await the energy and innovation he brings to the stage with Tomahawk in 2025.
