Mike Patton Announces Faith No More Musical: ‘Epic! The Broadway Experience’
New York City — In what can only be described as the most unexpected theatrical event of the decade, Mike Patton has announced the upcoming debut of “Epic! The Broadway Experience,” a full-scale musical based on the music and mythology of Faith No More.
The production, set to premiere in early 2026, promises a “mind-bending fusion of Broadway spectacle, post-metal angst, and surreal interpretive dance.” Patton, who will serve as musical director and creative consultant, said the show will be “a genre-fluid theatrical explosion with just enough jazz hands to terrify purists.”
According to the press release, the story will loosely follow a fictionalized version of the band’s rise and inner turmoil, told through bold choreography, pyrotechnics, and dream sequences featuring anthropomorphic goldfish — a clear nod to the iconic “Epic” music video.
The musical will feature reimagined versions of classic Faith No More tracks including “Midlife Crisis” (reworked as a tap-dance breakdown), “Ashes to Ashes” (as a gospel ballad), and a 12-minute experimental opera version of “Easy.”
Broadway veteran and avant-garde theater director Lydia Krow will helm the production, calling it “a psychedelic love letter to anxiety, absurdity, and distortion pedals.”
“People have always said our music was too weird for the mainstream,” Patton told reporters. “So naturally, Broadway seemed like the next logical step.”
Casting is already underway, with rumors swirling that Lin-Manuel Miranda may make a cameo as “Young Roddy Bottum.”
Early ticket sales are reportedly strong, especially among longtime fans, theater kids with ironic tattoos, and confused boomers who think it’s a tribute to George Michael.
Patton ended the press conference by screaming the phrase “SHOWTIME!” in seven octaves, then vanishing in a fog of stage smoke.
