June 2, 2025 — In a move that has sent shockwaves through the rock and experimental music worlds, legendary vocalist Mike Patton and powerhouse drummer Mike Bordin have announced the formation of a brand-new band, Grindlight.

After years of speculation about the future of Faith No More, the two longtime collaborators surprised fans this morning with a cryptic teaser video posted to social media — a 30-second montage of chaotic rehearsal footage, ending with a logo and the phrase: “Grindlight is coming.”

In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, Patton revealed, “This isn’t a reunion, it’s a reinvention. Mike [Bordin] and I have been jamming quietly for a couple years, trying to find a new voice — something raw, ugly, and beautiful. We finally found it.”

Grindlight is described as a hybrid of post-metal, dub, noise rock, and classic hardcore punk, with elements of experimental sound design. “There are no rules,” Bordin added. “We’re pulling from everything we’ve ever loved, but nothing is sacred.”

The band’s debut EP, Glass Teeth, is scheduled for release in September 2025 via Patton’s label, Ipecac Recordings. The project also features Toshi Kasai (producer and guitarist) and a mysterious bassist only referred to as “Fang.”

A European tour is already in the works for early 2026, with promises of U.S. dates to follow.

Fans are already speculating whether this signals the final nail in the coffin for Faith No More, but for now, Grindlight promises to be a new chapter — not a repeat.

“This band isn’t about nostalgia,” Patton said. “It’s about waking people the hell up.”
