Bristol Rovers boss Matt Taylor has said they are looking to sign a new goalkeeper.
Bristol Rovers are eyeing some competition for West Brom loan man Josh Griffiths between the sticks.
They are sat in 20th place in the League One table and have seven points on the board.
Taylor has said, as per a report by BristolLive: “As a manager, I still want to sign a goalkeeper. We’ve not been able to do that as yet. I hope we keep working towards doing that, not just in terms of the position on the bench when something happens during the game but for everyday training. To work with two goalkeepers isn’t enough.”
Here is a look at three options for the Gas…
Jamal Blackman
The 30-year-old had a loan spell with Bristol Rovers back in 2020 from Chelsea and made 10 appearances. He is available following his exit from fellow third tier side Burton Albion at the end of last season and will be weighing up his options.
Blackman, who is a former England youth international, is experienced and would fit the bill at the Memorial Ground. He also knows Taylor from playing under him at Rotherham United a couple of years ago.
Jordan Amissah
Sheffield United made the decision to cut ties with him following their relegation from the Premier League. His deal at Bramall Lane expired in late June and he has since been considering his next move in the game.
The 23-year-old spent six years with the Blades and played once for their first-team. He also had loan spells away from South Yorkshire at Guiseley, Spennymoor Town and Burton Albion to get some experience under his belt.
James Holden
He has been a back-up at Cambridge United since 2022 and would plug the gap for Bristol Rovers. The 23-year-old never played for the U’s but picked up game time out on loan in non-league with Dulwich Hamlet and Welling United to boost his development before they released him.
The Milton Keynes-born man had stints at Bury and Reading in his early career. He was sent out by the latter to Bognor Regis Town, Bracknell Town and Maidenhead United.
