New York, June 28, 2025 – Legendary rock band Living Colour has announced an indefinite hiatus after over forty years of breaking barriers and blending genres. The band, known for hits like “Cult of Personality,” shared the news in an emotional statement, thanking fans for decades of support. Members Vernon Reid, Corey Glover, Doug Wimbish, and Will Calhoun emphasized the decision comes from a place of mutual respect and a desire to pursue new creative paths.

Living Colour formed in 1984 in New York City and quickly made history with their groundbreaking debut album Vivid in 1988. They earned Grammy Awards, critical acclaim, and a devoted fanbase for their unique mix of hard rock, funk, jazz, and politically charged lyrics. Over the years, the band became known for confronting issues of race, inequality, and social justice in rock music, inspiring generations of musicians and listeners alike.

In recent years, Living Colour had celebrated the 35th anniversary of their seminal album Time’s Up, performed at WrestleMania 41, and delivered a powerful Tiny Desk Concert at NPR. Despite rumors of a new album, the group ultimately decided that the time was right to step back indefinitely.

“This is not goodbye forever, but rather a pause to reflect and grow,” the band said. “We are proud of everything we have achieved together.”

Living Colour’s legacy remains one of fierce creativity, fearless honesty, and unbreakable commitment to artistic freedom. Fans around the world expressed both sadness and gratitude, celebrating the band’s enduring impact on rock history.
