Former player and coach Liam Rosenior has weighed in on the growing criticism surrounding two Chelsea F.C. players following the club’s recent defeat to Paris Saint‑Germain F.C. in European competition. The loss sparked intense debate among fans and pundits, with many calling for changes to the team’s lineup ahead of upcoming matches.

However, Rosenior urged patience and perspective while addressing the criticism. Speaking about the reaction, he suggested that individual players should not be singled out too quickly after a single disappointing result.
“Football is always emotional after a big defeat,” Rosenior explained. “When a team loses a game like that, people look for someone to blame. But it’s rarely just one or two players. Football is a collective sport.”
The former defender also highlighted the pressure that comes with playing for a club of Chelsea’s stature. According to Rosenior, players at the London club face enormous expectations, especially during major European fixtures where every mistake is magnified.
He added that replacing players immediately after one difficult performance could disrupt team chemistry and long-term planning. Rosenior instead encouraged the club’s coaching staff to focus on improving tactical balance and confidence within the squad.
Chelsea are currently navigating a challenging period as they attempt to rebuild consistency both domestically and in Europe. The defeat to PSG has intensified scrutiny around the squad, but Rosenior believes stability will be key to turning results around.
As the team prepares for its next fixtures, the debate over team selection is likely to continue. For Rosenior, though, the solution lies not in quick replacements but in patience, tactical adjustments, and giving players the opportunity to respond on the pitch.
