The Sacramento Kings are reportedly working out three former Phoenix Suns players in the next week.
The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported today that T.J. Warren will be working out for Sacramento this week, as too are Jae Crowder and Nassir Little.
All three of these players played for Phoenix at different times with Little being the most recent. Little was waived just under a month ago after one season with the Suns.
The Suns acquired Little from the Portland Trail Blazers along with Jusuf Nurkić and Grayson Allen (from the Milwaukee Bucks) in a three-team trade that sent Deandre Ayton to the Blazers on Sept. 27, 2023. The 24-year-old, 6-foot-6 wing only played in 45 games in his first season in Phoenix, averaging 3.4 points and 1.7 rebounds and not seeing much meaningful minutes since December.
The 31-year-old Warren was originally drafted by the Suns 14th overall in 2014 and stayed with Phoenix until 2019 when he was traded to the Indiana Pacers. Then, Warren came back to Phoenix in the Kevin Durant trade from the Brooklyn Nets in 2023, in which Crowder was sent to Brooklyn along with Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and four first round picks. Crowder played a big role in the Suns’ run to the Finals in 2021, starting all 22 playoff games.
Crowder, 34, spent the last 1.5 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks after being waived by Brooklyn, while Warren played 11 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves last season.
Crowder averaged 9.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in his two seasons with Phoenix. Warren averaged 13.8 points and 4.1 rebounds in 277 games with the Suns and is most known for his big-time performances in the NBA Bubble in 2020 with the Pacers, but has not been the same player since suffering consecutive stress fractures in his foot, which caused him to play in only four games in the 2020-21 season and miss the entire 2021-22 campaign.
The Kings seem to be looking to bolster their wing depth with these workouts after making a splash in free agency by signing DeMar DeRozan this offseason.
