Iran Launches Missile Attack on US Base in Qatar, No Casualties Reported

Doha, Qatar – June 24, 2025 – Iran today launched a retaliatory missile strike on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, a major US military installation in the Middle East. The attack, which Iranian state media described as a “devastating and powerful missile” operation, comes in response to recent US airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.
According to US and Qatari officials, the missiles fired by Iran were largely intercepted by joint US and Qatari air defense systems, with only one missile reportedly hitting the base. Crucially, no casualties or significant damage were reported at Al Udeid.
US President Donald Trump, in a statement on social media, characterized the Iranian response as “very weak” and thanked Iran for “giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured.” Qatari officials also confirmed the successful interception and the absence of casualties, crediting the “vigilance of the armed forces and precautionary measures taken.”
Explosions were heard in Qatar’s capital, Doha, and flares were visible over the city as air defense systems engaged the incoming projectiles.
Al Udeid Air Base, located southwest of Doha, serves as the forward headquarters for US Central Command (CENTCOM) and is a critical hub for US military operations in the region, including those in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. The base typically houses thousands of US service members, with some reports indicating around 10,000 personnel at its peak.
This missile attack marks a significant escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, following the US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. While the lack of casualties in today’s attack may offer a glimmer of de-escalation, the direct targeting of a major US military installation by Iran underscores the volatile nature of the current regional crisis.
