EXODUS Cancels Upcoming Albums and Tour Amid Internal Disputes
In a surprising development, thrash metal veterans EXODUS have announced the cancellation of their anticipated double album project and the remaining dates of their “Swarm of Horror” U.S. tour, citing internal disagreements within the band.
The band had been working on two full-length albums, with guitarist Gary Holt previously stating they were close to completing 20 tracks. However, in a recent update, Holt revealed that the albums would be delayed until 2026 to allow more time for development and refinement. Now, those plans have been shelved entirely—at least for the foreseeable future.
The “Swarm of Horror” tour, which began on April 27, 2025, was already marred by complications. Originally slated to feature Deicide as a co-headliner, the band withdrew due to scheduling conflicts. Possessed stepped in briefly but soon dropped out, leading Havok to take their place. These lineup shakeups reflected underlying instability, which has now culminated in a complete tour cancellation.
These setbacks come shortly after a major lineup change in the band. In January 2025, EXODUS parted ways with longtime vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza and reinstated Rob Dukes, who had last fronted the band from 2005 to 2014. While initially welcomed with excitement, sources suggest the transition may have caused creative and interpersonal tension behind the scenes.
Although the band has not released a detailed statement about the internal issues, they assured fans that this is not the end. “We’re stepping back to address some things we didn’t see coming,” one member said anonymously. “This isn’t goodbye—it’s just a pause.”
Fans now await further word from EXODUS, hoping for a resolution that brings the thrash icons back stronger
than ever.
