The takeover saga took a fresh twist on 23 September as the Friedkin Group returned to the table and is believed to be in advanced negotiations with Farhad Moshiri
The Sky Sports journalist reported that there was a “huge” change in the situation in the past 48 hours, with a resolution now close at Goodison Park.
Writing on his X account [23 September], Myers said: “Things are moving very quickly, huge change in the situation over the weekend.”
Who will win the race to purchase Everton?
The Everton supporters must feel like they are in dreamland with two serious candidates vying for the right to assume ownership of the club.
Textor had looked all but set to become the new owner, once the matter of his 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace is resolved but the delay in the sale of his shares has left an opening and the Friedkin Group has taken their opportunity.
Dan Friedkin will have a lot of making up to do on Merseyside should he take the place of Moshiri, the American walked away from a potential deal in July and subsequently broke Evertonian hearts after talks with 777 Partners also collapsed.
Less than 24 hours after The Esk issued a personal message from Everton supporters directly to Moshiri for his mishandling of the takeover talks, it seems the wish has been granted as the battle between Textor and Friedkin intensifies.
However, regardless of who is at the helm at the Blues, the supporters can rest easy knowing that Moshiri’s disastrous tenure will soon end and the club can finally look to the future and start a new era at Bramley Moore Dock at the end of the season.
