The Hollywood co-owners at SToK Racecourse enjoy a special status among the players as regular visitors to the dressing room. Reynolds and McElhenney have managed to strike a personal chord with them with their humane touch and it’s always a lift when the duo walks into the changing room to see the squad.
However, it is not only on matchdays that the owners make themselves available. Lee revealed that Reynolds called him after he signed his contract at Wrexham. He was surprised by this loving gesture and admitted that the co-owners have been “incredible”, as it’s far from just “business” with the two of them.
In an interview with GQ Sports, Lee revealed: “I think we have got a great relationship with them. If you don’t know about the English football game, not many owners are like them, if any. It’s just a straight business. You don’t really have any contact, But with Rob and Ryan, they have been incredible for all of us. They take an interest in your personal life and how you’re actually getting on.”
He added: “For me personally, Ryan called me a day or two after I signed. Little things like that make them very special owners.”
However, Palmer was fuming after he heard this and said: “I didn’t get a f*cking call then. Genuinely didn’t.”
Arthur Okonkwo added salt to the wounds and added: “I got the call from Ryan as I signed.”
Wrexham have had a flying start to their League One campaign and are at the top of the pile with 13 points from five games. They will next be in action against Birmingham on Monday.
