David Gilmour Announces Upcoming Tour and Apologizes for Last Tour Cancellation
Legendary Pink Floyd guitarist and solo artist David Gilmour has officially announced his much-anticipated return to the stage with a new global tour set for later this year. Fans of the iconic musician can look forward to a series of performances across Europe, North America, and beyond, celebrating his extensive solo career as well as timeless Pink Floyd classics.
In a heartfelt message to fans, Gilmour also took the opportunity to apologize for the cancellation of his previous tour. The guitarist, who had initially scheduled a series of dates in support of his 2020 solo album Rattle That Lock, was forced to call off the tour due to health concerns that ultimately kept him from touring. Although Gilmour’s fans were understandably disappointed, the musician’s decision was made with their safety and well-being in mind, as well as his own.
“I am deeply sorry for the cancellation of my last tour,” Gilmour said in a statement. “The decision was not taken lightly, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported me during that difficult time. Your patience and understanding mean the world to me, and I am excited to finally return to the stage to share my music with you all once again.”
Fans can expect a mix of new material, including tracks from Gilmour’s 2015 album Rattle That Lock, alongside classic hits from his vast catalog with Pink Floyd. The upcoming tour promises to be a visual and sonic spectacle, with cutting-edge lighting, visuals, and an all-star band backing the renowned guitarist.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale next month, and given Gilmour’s loyal following and the excitement surrounding his return, demand is expected to be high.
For fans who have waited years for Gilmour’s return to the live scene, the upcoming tour is set to be a much-anticipated musical event, full of nostalgia, emotion, and of course, masterful guitar work.
