Colorado Avalanche Support Mental Health Awareness with Powerful Community Campaign

Denver, CO — May 20, 2025 – The Colorado Avalanche are making an impact off the ice with the launch of a powerful new initiative aimed at supporting mental health awareness across Colorado and beyond. The campaign, titled “Stronger Together,” was unveiled this week and is already drawing praise from fans, healthcare advocates, and the broader NHL community.

Spearheaded by the Avalanche organization in partnership with Mental Health Colorado and several local nonprofits, “Stronger Together” is designed to destigmatize mental health challenges, promote open conversation, and provide real resources for individuals and families in need. The campaign includes community outreach events, digital content, player-led testimonials, and mental wellness workshops at local schools and youth centers.

“Mental health is something that affects everyone,” said Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, who spoke at the campaign’s kickoff event at Ball Arena on Monday. “Whether you’re a professional athlete or a high school student, we all face struggles. Talking about it is the first step to healing.”

One of the cornerstone features of the initiative is a “Mental Wellness Night” scheduled for an upcoming home game, where fans will receive mental health resource kits, hear from mental health professionals, and see players wear special warm-up jerseys adorned with supportive messages. These limited-edition jerseys will be auctioned off post-game, with all proceeds going to local mental health organizations.

The Avalanche are also rolling out “Stronger Together” school programs, where current and former players will visit schools across the state to share their personal stories, offer support, and connect students with resources. These programs are being developed in collaboration with psychologists and counselors to ensure age-appropriate messaging and support.

Avalanche General Manager Chris MacFarland emphasized that this campaign is part of a long-term commitment by the organization: “We’re proud of what we do on the ice, but we know our responsibility to this community goes deeper. Supporting mental health awareness is about saving lives, building resilience, and showing people they are not alone.”

Fans are already responding positively, with the hashtag #StrongerTogetherAvs trending regionally on social media. Many have praised the team for taking a leadership role in such an important and often overlooked issue.

The Avalanche plan to expand the program through the 2025–26 season, with potential league-wide partnerships under discussion. By using their platform to advocate for mental wellness, the Colorado Avalanche are proving that true strength is not just in how you play the game, but in how you stand up for others.
