In a scene that left first responders stunned, professional basketball player Sydney Colson emerged unscathed today from a devastating multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 465 during morning rush hour. The accident, described by police as “one of the worst wrecks we’ve seen this year,” involved three cars and a commercial van after a suspected chain-reaction caused by sudden, heavy fog.

“When we arrived, the extent of the damage was severe,” said Indianapolis Fire Department Captain Maria Reyes. “For anyone to walk out of that is nothing short of a miracle. The vehicle’s safety systems and sheer luck were definitely on her side.”
To the astonishment of the rescue team and gathered onlookers, Colson, a guard for the Las Vegas Aces known for her tenacity on the court, was able to exit the vehicle under her own power once the door was freed. Paramedics immediately transported her to a nearby hospital for a full evaluation, but she was released just hours later with only minor bumps and bruises.
“I’m just incredibly grateful,” Colson stated via a team spokesperson. “My thoughts are with everyone involved today. Hug your loved ones. It all changes in a blink.”
State police continue to investigate the exact cause of the pile-up, which caused major traffic delays for most of the morning. For Colson, her fans, and the basketball community, the overwhelming sentiment is one of profound relief following her harrowing and miraculous survival.
