Aston Villa receive Conor Gallagher transfer response amid Chelsea swipe
Don Goodman reckons Aston Villa can take advantage of Chelsea’s ‘serious financial mess’ to secure the services of Conor Gallagher this summer.
The one-time prolific striker with West Brom and Wolves admits it would be an act of ‘madness’ for the Stamford Bridge hierarchy to let the England international go unless they have to in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
The Telegraph reported last month that Villa are keen on the Chelsea midfielder, who has a year left on his current contract with the Blues.
The London club are said to be looking for around £50million for Gallagher as they attempt to abide by the PSR guidelines.
“He came through the youth system and it would therefore be a straight profit on the balance sheet, so that explains the talk, but he was arguably behind only Cole Palmer in terms of Chelsea’s most consistent player last season.
“If they are to let him go, that shows they are in a serious mess financially, or otherwise it’s just madness. If you’re Aston Villa and have the chance of getting hold of Conor Gallagher, why wouldn’t you?
