ACCEPT Appoints Joel Hoekstra as Permanent Member Following Wolf Hoffmann’s Passing
In a major turning point for the heavy metal scene, German metal legends ACCEPT have officially named guitarist Joel Hoekstra as a permanent member of the band. This announcement follows the tragic passing of founding guitarist Wolf Hoffmann in early 2025. Hoffmann was not only the band’s last original member but also its creative backbone for decades.
Joel Hoekstra, acclaimed for his work with Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Night Ranger, initially joined ACCEPT as a touring guitarist in 2024. His chemistry with the band and his technical brilliance made him a natural fit. Introduced to the band through mutual industry connections, Hoekstra had previously spoken about the honor of playing alongside Hoffmann and expressed a deep respect for ACCEPT’s musical legacy.
Originally brought in to temporarily cover for guitarist Phil Shouse during European festivals and a South American tour, Hoekstra quickly earned admiration from fans and bandmates alike. With Hoffmann’s passing, ACCEPT faced a crucial decision—and found a fitting successor in Hoekstra.
The band is preparing to move forward with their 50th anniversary celebrations later this year. Their upcoming album, Humanoid, produced by Andy Sneap, will be the first major release to feature Hoekstra as a full-time member. It marks the beginning of a new era for the group, blending their classic metal identity with fresh energy.
This move is seen as both a tribute to Hoffmann’s legacy and a hopeful step toward the future. ACCEPT remains committed to delivering powerful performances and staying true to the spirit of the genre they helped shape. With Hoekstra on board, the band is poised to continue its legacy with strength and style.
