Dan Reynolds Announces Permanent Departure from Imagine Dragons: “It’s Time for a New Chapter”
Las Vegas, 9 July 2025 — In a move that has stunned fans around the globe, Dan Reynolds, the unmistakable voice and frontman of Imagine Dragons, has officially announced his permanent departure from the band. The emotional revelation came via a heartfelt video message posted to his social media accounts earlier today.
“For nearly two decades, Imagine Dragons has been my life. We’ve lived through extraordinary highs, shared deeply personal stories through music, and connected with millions,” Reynolds said. “But today, I know in my heart—it’s time for a new chapter.”
The 37-year-old singer cited personal growth, a desire to pursue solo projects, and the toll of constant touring on his physical and mental health as key reasons behind his decision. Reynolds, who has openly battled ankylosing spondylitis and ulcerative colitis, said he now seeks “healing, stillness, and space to explore different creative horizons.”
His announcement comes on the heels of the band’s successful Loom World Tour, which wrapped just last month. While there had been speculation about a hiatus, few anticipated a complete departure.
The remaining members—Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee, and Daniel Platzman—shared a joint statement: “Dan’s voice built this band, and his spirit will always be part of Imagine Dragons. We support him fully and are exploring our next steps.”
Reynolds hinted at future artistic endeavors, including solo music, film scoring, and continued activism with his LGBTQ+ foundation, LOVELOUD. He also teased a memoir that’s already in the works.
Fans flooded social media with messages of support and sorrow, trending the hashtag #ThankYouDan worldwide.
“Imagine Dragons will always be a part of me,” Reynolds concluded, “but now, I must imagine something new.”
Whether the band continues or closes the curtain, one thing is clear: this marks the end of an era.
