Jerry Only Announces Misfits Studio Album with Danzig and Doyle After 40 Years
In a move that has sent shockwaves through the punk and metal communities, Misfits bassist and co-founder Jerry Only has officially announced that the original Misfits lineup — featuring Glenn Danzig and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein — is recording a brand-new studio album, their first in over four decades.
The announcement came during a surprise video posted on the Misfits’ official social media accounts late Friday night, where Jerry, dressed in full skull regalia, declared: “It’s time. We’re bringing the horror back — for real this time. A new Misfits album is coming, and it’s with Glenn and Doyle. No gimmicks, no fill-ins. Just pure evil from the originals.”
This marks the first Misfits studio release featuring all three classic-era members since Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood in 1983. While the band reunited in 2016 for a string of high-profile shows under “The Original Misfits” banner, there had been no confirmation of new music — until now.
Sources close to the band say recording has already begun at an undisclosed studio in Los Angeles, with longtime producer Chris “Zeuss” Harris rumored to be involved. Fans are speculating the album may revisit the raw, lo-fi energy of Static Age, while also tapping into the heavier sound found on Earth A.D.
Glenn Danzig, who has historically been reluctant to record new material with the band, briefly commented in the same video: “The fans have waited long enough. Let’s give ‘em something nasty.”
No official release date has been set, but Jerry hinted at a Halloween 2025 drop — fitting for a band that turned horror into an art form.
Fans and critics alike are calling this the most significant Misfits news since their original breakup in 1983.
