The road to WrestleMania 42 just took a dramatic turn as CM Punk has reportedly informed WWE management that he wants his highly anticipated showdown with Roman Reigns to take place inside Hell in a Cell.
According to backstage sources, Punk approached officials following his latest appearance and made it clear that a standard singles match would not be enough to settle the escalating rivalry. Instead, he is pushing for the brutal steel structure to surround the ring, ensuring there is no interference and no escape.
“If we’re going to do this, we’re doing it the right way,” Punk allegedly said. “Lock the door. Lower the Cell.”
The animosity between Punk and Reigns has intensified in recent weeks, with personal insults and physical altercations fueling what many are calling one of the most explosive feuds in recent memory. Reigns, known as “The Tribal Chief,” has dominated the main event scene for years, while Punk has positioned himself as the defiant challenger determined to dismantle Reigns’ empire.
A Hell in a Cell stipulation would raise the stakes dramatically. The unforgiving steel structure has historically been the setting for some of WWE’s most violent and career-defining battles. For both men, stepping inside the Cell at WrestleMania could cement legacy — or leave lasting scars.
While WWE officials have not yet confirmed whether the request will be granted, fan reaction has been immediate and intense. Social media exploded with anticipation, with many calling it a dream match worthy of the grandest stage of them all.
As WrestleMania 42 approaches, all eyes are now on management’s decision. If approved, Punk vs. Reigns inside Hell in a Cell could become one of the most talked-about main events in WrestleMania history.
