“Buddy Guy Announces Final Studio Album Featuring All-Star Lineup of Blues and Rock Legends”
June 2025 — Chicago, IL:
In a stunning surprise for blues fans worldwide, living legend Buddy Guy has announced the release of what he calls his “final studio album”, slated for Fall 2025. Titled Last Call: The Final Sessions, the album will be a bold celebration of his life, legacy, and the future of blues music.
Guy, who turns 89 this July, revealed that the album features a star-studded lineup of collaborators, including Eric Clapton, Gary Clark Jr., Bonnie Raitt, John Mayer, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, and Kingfish Ingram. The album blends raw Chicago blues, heartfelt ballads, and explosive guitar duels—some recorded live at Buddy Guy’s Legends club in Chicago.
“I wanted to make something that says thank you,” Guy shared. “Thank you to the blues, to the ones before me, and the ones carrying it forward.”
Fans had feared The Blues Don’t Lie (2022) would be his final record. This unexpected return to the studio—kept secret until now—comes as Guy continues his extended “Damn Right Farewell Tour”, playing select dates across the U.S. this summer.
The announcement also confirms that Last Call will come with a documentary film, detailing the recording process, tributes from fellow artists, and never-before-seen footage of Guy’s early days in Chicago.
Fans and critics are already calling it “a generational moment”—not just a goodbye, but a masterclass in musical storytelling. Pre-orders for vinyl and limited deluxe editions open July 30, 2025, on his 89th birthday.
With this record, Buddy Guy reminds the world: the blues is not only alive and well—it’s eternal.
