🎸 Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only Shock the World with New Band Launch: The Thing Rises from the Grave
In a jaw-dropping announcement that has left punk and metal fans reeling, Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only—founding members of the legendary Misfits—have joined forces once again to unleash a brand-new band: The Thing.
After decades marked by legal feuds, lineup changes, and sporadic reunions, the two icons have buried the hatchet and resurrected their creative chemistry in a project that promises to push horror punk into terrifying new territory. The band’s name, The Thing, pays homage to the John Carpenter cult classic while hinting at the monstrous sound and aesthetic fans can expect.
“This isn’t the past—it’s the future,” said Danzig in a press release. “We’re creating something darker, meaner, and more cinematic than ever before.” Only added, “It’s not about reliving old glories. It’s about creating new nightmares.”
The announcement came with a teaser trailer featuring a haunting mashup of sci-fi horror visuals and thunderous guitar riffs. Fans caught glimpses of what appears to be the band’s grotesque new mascot and a logo that fuses the Misfits’ Crimson Ghost with something… not of this world.
Their debut album, Spawn of the Dark, is currently in production and slated for release later this year. The duo has also teased a full-scale arena tour this fall, complete with theatrical stage effects, horror set pieces, and new material that blends punk ferocity with doom-laden metal overtones.
The punk world is on fire with speculation. Will The Thing include longtime collaborator Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein? Will they revisit their Misfits roots, or carve a brand-new legacy?
One thing is certain: The Thing is real, it’s alive—and it’s coming.
