Fat Mike and Erin Burkett Announce Reunion—Personally and Professionally—in Surprise Punk Wedding
In a shocking and heartwarming twist that has the punk community buzzing, Fat Mike and Erin Burkett have announced not only their rekindled romantic relationship, but also a relaunch of Fat Wreck Chords 2.0—a new phase for the legendary punk label.
The couple, who originally co-founded Fat Wreck Chords in 1990 and divorced in 2010, surprised fans during a NOFX farewell show in San Francisco by walking onstage hand-in-hand, dressed in full punk wedding attire. The crowd erupted as an ordained roadie married them onstage in a ceremony that included vows written on bar napkins and a mosh pit reception.
“We never stopped caring about each other,” Erin said, holding back tears. “Turns out, 30 years in punk can bring people closer than ever.”
Fat Mike added with a grin, “We figured if we can survive running a label, touring, divorce, and 2020… we can survive another marriage.”
As part of the announcement, they also revealed Fat Wreck Chords 2.0, a reimagined label that will include vinyl-only mystery releases, fan-curated band signings, and a Punk Parent Advisory Council, aimed at mentoring younger artists. Their first mystery release? Rumor has it a long-lost NOFX acoustic album featuring Erin on vocals might be in the mix.
Social media exploded with love and disbelief, with longtime fans calling it “the most punk rock love story of all time.”
Whether it’s another twist in the unpredictable world of punk or the beginning of a new era, one thing’s clear—Fat Mike and Erin are back, and they’re louder than ever.
