Port Vale manager Darren Moore was questioned on a wide range of issues ahead of Vale’s trip to Barrow at the weekend.
The Valiants manager spoke to BBC Radio Stoke’s Phil Bowers and here’s what he had to say…
On the season so far…
“The fixture list can throw up these bizarre situations where we’ve played Salford and Barrow twice in the first month of the season. I feel really fine about the way we’ve started. Its good that the boys are getting that level of understanding. Overall, I’m happy with the progress we’ve made in a short space of time but we know there’s a lot of hard work ahead of us…”
On the new signings…
“Everybody’s playing their bit. You’re thrilled when you see combinations working and I know there’s more to come. We know there’s a lot of hard work ahead of us. The biggest thing for us is the performance…”
On injuries to Connor Hall and Baylee Dipepa in midweek…
“Both players sustained knocks. Both of them are part of the squad and ready to travel and we’ll probably make a late call on both of them. But the signs are good…”
On Sam Hart’s performance in the back three…
“That’s the ace in our recruitment. Making sure we recruit players who can play in a whole range of different positions. Sam dropped into that role and performed it really, really well…”
On clean sheets…
“Yeah there’s been a solidity to us. I’ve been really pleased with the way the boys have been going about their business. It’s a joint effort throughout the team. We’ve got another difficult test and the team will need to make sure we’re solid but there’s always room for improvement…”
On the performances of Jesse Debrah…
“When we arrived last season I looked to Jesse and I warmed to him in terms of his game. As a former defender, you can give him some of the tricks of the trade. Jesse has all the attributes to be a good central defender. He’s hungry to learn and he wants to perform. We love his temperament and his desire. At the moment he’s performing very, very well…”
On the performances of Ruari Paton…
“We like what Ruari’s about. We brought him here because of the player he is. What the fans have seen is a bright character who loves the football club and the job he does. He’s forever positive. He’s a good player, a goalscorer, he’s a team player and nothing that you ask of him is too much. He brings us an eye for goal and his link-up play is fantastic. But there’s more to come from him…”
