Bad Religion Announces Indefinite Hiatus Effective June 2025
Legendary punk rock band Bad Religion has officially announced an indefinite hiatus beginning this month, marking the end of an era just as the group celebrates its 45th anniversary. The news, shared via a statement on June 3, 2025, has sent shockwaves through the punk community.
> “After 45 incredible years of music, activism, and connection with our fans, we’ve made the difficult decision to take an indefinite break starting this month,” the band said in a joint statement posted to their official channels. “This isn’t goodbye forever, but it is time for us to pause, reflect, and allow space for individual growth.”
The announcement means that the highly anticipated Summer of Discontent tour with Dropkick Murphys, originally scheduled to kick off in July, has been canceled. Refunds will be issued to all ticket holders, and promoters have confirmed that some dates may be restructured as standalone Dropkick Murphys shows.
Bad Religion’s decision follows a remarkably active period that included their acclaimed Netflix documentary Bad Religion: A Punk Rock Legacy (set to debut in November 2025), as well as an expected new studio album that now appears postponed indefinitely.
Founded in 1980, the band—comprising Greg Graffin, Brett Gurewitz, Jay Bentley, Brian Baker, Mike Dimkich, and Jamie Miller—has long been praised for their cerebral lyrics, blistering sound, and unrelenting social commentary.
While no return date has been set, the band emphasized their enduring bond: “We are still brothers. We’re proud of what we’ve built. We just need to catch our breath.”
Fans are encouraged to follow the band’s official channels for any future news or archival releases.
