  •  Caleb and Matthew Followill Depart Kings of Leon to Form New Band “The Echo Saints”

In a stunning development that has rocked the rock music world, Caleb Followill and Matthew Followill have officially announced their departure from Kings of Leon, the band they helped build into one of the most iconic rock acts of the 21st century. The cousins revealed they will be forming a new musical project titled “The Echo Saints.”

In a joint statement released early Friday morning, Caleb (lead vocalist) and Matthew (lead guitarist) explained their decision as a creative turning point rather than a personal rift.

> “After more than two decades with Kings of Leon, we’ve decided it’s time to challenge ourselves creatively in new ways,” the statement read. “We have nothing but love and respect for Jared and Nathan, and we’ll always be proud of what we created together.”

Sources close to the band describe the split as amicable, although some fans have speculated on growing artistic differences over the band’s recent direction. Caleb, known for his haunting vocals, and Matthew, revered for his atmospheric guitar work, are reportedly already recording material for their debut album as The Echo Saints, with an experimental sound that blends Southern rock roots with synth-laden indie rock influences.

Kings of Leon, formed in 1999, have seen massive international success with hits like “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire.” While this marks a significant shift for the band, drummer Nathan Followill and bassist Jared Followill have confirmed that Kings of Leon will continue and are already in talks with potential collaborators.

A teaser for The Echo Saints’ first single, tentatively titled “Dust in the Wire,” is expected in the coming weeks, with a full album projected for late 2025.

Fans are watching closely — the next chapter of the Followill legacy has begun.
