Motörhead postponed the upcoming celebration dates
Motörhead has postponed its upcoming 50th anniversary celebration events that were originally scheduled for May 8, 2025. The band made the decision due to ongoing health concerns surrounding key former members.
The year-long “Motörhead For Life” campaign was set to include several major events, including the unveiling of a statue of Lemmy Kilmister in his hometown of Burslem, and a special show hosted by Mikkey Dee in Oslo. These have now been put on hold.
The delay follows Mikkey Dee’s serious health scare in late 2024. He developed sepsis from a sprained foot and was hospitalized for three weeks, undergoing multiple surgeries. Although he’s now recovering, his priority remains returning to full strength for Scorpions’ Las Vegas shows.
Guitarist Phil Campbell is also reportedly facing personal health issues that have affected his ability to participate in the planned celebrations. With these challenges, the band’s team decided it was best to postpone the events.
Motörhead’s management released a statement saying that while the delay is unfortunate, fans can rest assured the celebrations are not cancelled—just postponed. New dates will be announced in the coming months.
The band still plans to honor Lemmy’s legacy and their 50-year journey properly, just a little later than expected. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates on rescheduled dates, limited-edition vinyls, and other tribute events planned throughout the rest of 2025.
