The Atlanta Falcons won one of the most thrilling Thursday Night Football games in recent memory, knocking off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 36-30 in overtime. Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for an incredible 509 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception.
Wide receivers Drake London and Darnell Moody each had over 100 yards receiving. London had one touchdown catch while Moody had two.
Running back Bijan Robinson only had 12 carries, but he averaged 5.1 each time he ran the ball. He also had three receptions for 16 yards.
Kicker Younghoe Koo made three of his five field goal attempts, including one from 54 yards out. His 47-yard attempt with one second remaining in regulation sent the game into overtime.
But during the contest, much discussion was not about the play on the field as many fans took issue with the Falcons’ retro logo on social media.
NFL Fans Could Not Unsee Similarities Between the Atlanta Falcons Logo and an Offensive Flag
The Falcons played in their retro uniforms on Thursday night, featuring a black falcon on an all-red helmet. The team’s social media pages updated their profile pictures to include the logo, but in doing so made themselves look like Nazi sympathizers:
Fans were quick to point this out.
One comment read, “We actually won WWII guys you don’t have to do this.”
Another user wrote, “what in the 1940s germany is this.”
The quotes on the post were also quick to point out the similarty between the Falcons’ logo and a Nazi Eagle:
Obviously, the Falcons had no intention of having a logo so similar to that of a former Nazi symbol. The team had red helmets with a black falcon on it for years, all of which were after World War II.
