Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated sharply after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a strong warning regarding the possibility of a U.S. military escalation against Iran.
Speaking during a recent interview amid the growing regional conflict, Araghchi declared that Iran is fully prepared to defend itself against any form of military aggression. His remarks come as the United States continues military operations alongside Israel in the region, increasing fears that the conflict could widen into a larger war.
The Iranian foreign minister made it clear that Tehran does not fear a direct confrontation. According to Araghchi, any attempt by the United States to deploy ground troops or expand its military presence in Iran would have serious consequences.
“We are waiting for them,” Araghchi said when asked about the possibility of a U.S. ground invasion, adding that such a move would become a “big disaster” for American forces. He stressed that Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared for any scenario and capable of responding decisively.
Araghchi also emphasized that Iran has not requested a ceasefire and does not see any reason to enter negotiations with Washington at this stage. He accused the U.S. of launching attacks even while diplomatic talks were ongoing, arguing that previous negotiations ended in military strikes against Iranian targets.
The foreign minister further claimed that Iran’s response so far has been aimed primarily at American military installations across the region rather than neighboring countries. Tehran, he said, has communicated with regional governments to clarify that its operations are directed at U.S. bases and not their territories.
The warning comes during one of the most volatile moments in the Middle East in years. Recent strikes and counter-strikes between Iran, the United States, and Israel have raised global concerns that the conflict could spiral into a broader regional war.
Despite the escalating tensions, Iranian officials insist that the country will not back down under pressure. Araghchi concluded his statement by reaffirming that Iran will resist any foreign military action and is ready for a prolonged confrontation if necessary.
As the situation continues to develop, world leaders are closely monitoring events, fearing that any further escalation could significantly destabilize the entire Middle East.
