Bolton Wanderers Women are delighted to announce the signing of Faye Knox, who joins from Blackburn Rovers Women of the Women’s Championship in a statement signing for the club.
Knox – a Wales Youth international throughout her footballing career – steps down from Tier 2 of the Women’s pyramid to link up with Myles Smith’s side on the back of a hugely positive start to the 2024/25 campaign.
The attacking midfielder started her journey in the academy of Manchester City Women, showing early promise and gaining interest for her attacking flair and an eye for a goal and assists.
After six years of progression at City, Knox made the move across the East Lancs into the youth setup at Liverpool FC Women, progressing through to U21 level and playing a number of games in the colours of the Reds.
But Knox went in search of senior football to aid her development and joined Blackburn Rovers Ladies in the summer of 2023.
Knox impressed immensely and made her senior debut at the age of 18 in the Conti Cup before making her bow in the Women’s Championship later in the season.
On the international stage, Knox has been part of the Welsh setup since the age of 13. With the flexibility to play in a number of positions in the final third, Knox continues to progress up the age groups and make her mark for her country.
Knox will now link up with her new teammates this week, looking to settle into her new surroundings as a Bolton Wanderers player.
Faye Knox said: “I’m really excited to join this team.
“It’s a good project and I’ve been to a couple of the games so far this season, and the style of play suits me and I think that I will fit in quite well.
“After conversations with Myles and seeing how amazing the facilities are, I feel like this is the right place for me to play football.
“The way the project was presented to me is exciting, and as the club decides to build and progress – I know I want to be part of that.
“The way in which the club has shown their support for the women’s team, as well as the way that I’ve been treated since talks began about signing – everything has been perfect. I can’t wait to get going.”
Myles Smith, Manager of Bolton Wanderers Women, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Faye into Bolton Wanderers and to our team.
“Given her pedigree as an international player at youth level and her upbringing in top tier Academy setups, this is an incredible step forward for us to secure a player of her calibre.
“She possesses huge amounts of ability, and for her to make the decision to move down the pyramid from Tier 2 to Tier 6 is a huge statement of intent for us.
“The signing of Faye is testament to the hard work that has been put in by everyone here to make this Football Club an incredibly attractive proposition for players, no matter the level they are playing at.
“Bolton Wanderers Women are at the start of an really exciting journey, and I am thrilled that Faye has decided she wants to be part of this project moving forward.”
